Form Follows Function Definitions

Form is The shape and structure of an object.

Repetition is the act of repeating; repeated action, performance, production, or presentation.

Rhythm is the movement or variation characterized by the regular recurrence or alternation of different quantities or conditions.

Emphasis is a principle of art which occurs any time an element of a piece is given dominance by the artist.

Pattern is the repetition of an element (or elements) in a work.

Tension is mental, emotional, or nervous strain

Textural Animation is the use of texture to give life to the form

Characteristic Textures are textures that appear to be natural to the form

Contradictory Textures are textures that stand out in contrast to the form
